Which android build to use?

Updated: 6 days ago

A good part of the information here was gathered by users on reddit, mixed with some of my findings. All credit goes to the community.

Build 74-78: Special build for Persona 5 Royal. Fixes the crashes after 30 minutes when playing, however snapdragon 870+ is recommended in case you want to use this build to play persona 5 royal due to it not having NCE*.

Build 167-169: Performance focused builds with lower focus on graphical fidelity. Newer games run faster however tend to have a lot of graphical issues.

Note: Most of the performance issues in specific games happen during Build 170 or later.

Build 177-178: Stable builds that run old titles smoothly.

Build 234: The best build for Mali GPU owners.

Build 198-239 - Consider trying out these builds if the older builds are not working properly and the new ones aren't providing the best performance as well.

Build 242-251 - Focused on shader compiler and texture cache building fixes (graphics building related), Memory Management and some bug fixes. This build is where you'll notice performance improvements on certain Open World 2D/3D games (ex. Atelier Ryza 1, Mario Kart 8, etc) but some bugs and crashes are still present.

Build 252 - Gamepad Controller Input mapping 1st time implementation, build 252 and above will now have this feature.

Build 254-256 - Builds between v250-256 tend to be extremely stable for general usage.

You might want to consider these the "general use builds".

Build 260-278 - Improved compatibility with newer switch game titles, more fixes to controller support, attempt to fix the 0.0fps bug and Yuzu crashes, but the problem is that it gets worse in certain games.

Observations: Build 250 and later (Final Build 278) are more focused on bug fixes, crash fixes, graphical fixes, particularly with unreal engine games. They have also made it more compatible to run newer game titles in Yuzu Android but the decreased performance and FPS bugs are still present.

  • Recommendation: Downgrade and upgrade accordingly to find the most suitable build for your device

Other Fixes for memory leak issue, game crashes, 0.0fps and etc... are not issues that the community has a fix for. We will need to wait for the actual devs to do something about it.

You may want to try some of the most known fixes for now:

  1. On Yuzu Android Graphics setting set Accuracy level to "high".

  2. Clear Shader Cache.

  3. Try to downgrade to a lower version of yuzu build and do step 1.

Other Gathered Info:

Build 184 - Good for Persona 5 and Zelda BOTW.

Build 222 - Super Monkey Ball works better on this build.

Build 260+ have big changes in their codebase/changelog.

Build 262,265,268 - Need further testing

What is NCE?

- "NCE is exactly what it sounds like: instead of emulating a different ARM64 processor on your ARM64 device, Yuzu (or another emulator that also has NCE), is simply running the native ARM64 CPU instructions on your device's SoC."

(Really old builds do not have this feature.)

Thanks for reading!

Advice for MacOS users

So I've seen a lot of MacOS users look for yuzu builds, which is absolutely fine, however the best thing to do is to just get ryujinx...

File sharing

File sharing is now a website feature! This means anyone can upload builds, however please upload any emulator files in ZIP/RAR/7Z format...
