If you don't want to worry about complicated stuff, really just download EmuDeck (as is said on the about page) and get all of what you need in one go.
This is basically a mirror of the thread post on r/emulators but I'll post it here anyways as an archive, and also because some people keep asking me for info regarding this.

Emulators 101
Most of the following emulators can be downloaded for major OS systems like windows, linux, android and iOS.
PS1/N64 and older use Retroarch. ( RetroArch Official Website ) (Retroarch Setup) It's easy to use with cores and once setup it's a good interface. PS1 Core Install Guide
PSX Standalone use Duckstation. (DuckStation GitHub) (Setup) Very new but very good PSX emulator. Ps1 Core Install Guide
PS2 - PCSX2/Retroarch. PCSX2 - The Playstation 2 emulator) (Setup) PCSX2 is the core in retroarch but the standalone is better for tinkering and upscaling. (For RetroArch see the link above) (Note: You need a BIOS to run the emulator)
PSP - PPSSPP/Retroarch. (PPSSPP Standalone Page) (Setup) Same scenario as listed above.
Dreamcast - Redream / Retroarch Flycast core. (Redream - Dreamcast Emulator) (Setup) Redream is very simple to use and highly recommended.
GC/WII - Dolphin. ( Dolphin Emulator) (Setup) Even though the core and support is in Retroarch it's just better to use the standalone version.
DS - DSMUME. ( DS Emulator ) ( Setup) A bit old but im very glad with this emulator.
From this point onwards, it will be tougher to emulate the following systems due to hardware requirements. If you have a decent gpu, cpu and RAM, then by all means go ahead:
WiiU - CEMU. (Cemu Emulator) (Bsod Gaming Setup)
PS3 - Rpcs3. (RPCS3 - PlayStation 3 Emulator) (Bsod Gaming Setup)
Xbox - XEMU. https://xemu.app/
Xbox360- Xenia
Switch - Ryujinx. Ryujinx - Nintendo Switch Emulator) (Ryujinx Bsod Setup)(Boost Performance) You need a very high end pc for these two. Look up BSoD Gaming's Setup Video on YouTube.
As of 2024 Yuzu and 3DS Citra are no longer officially supported, however you can find them on the downloads page. Ryujinx is still getting updates, courtesy of GreemDev.
